Awesome and Personal God.

We have been learning about the attributes of God, and how is he ALL powerful, Present, Knowing, Perfect in Justice, Loving, Self Sufficient and Sustaining. The Creator of the universe, of the heavens and the earth. I have only listed a few scripture references below to describe some of these.

But God made the earth by his power; he founded the world by his wisdom and stretched out the heavens by his understanding. When he thunders, the waters in the heavens roar; he makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth. He sends lightning with the rain and brings out the wind from his storehouses.
Jeremiah 10:12‭-‬13 NIV

Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.
Isaiah 40:26 NIV

For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
Colossians 1:16‭-‬17 NIV

And yet he is All that plus he is personal, and mindful ALL at the same time.

When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?
Psalms 8:3‭-‬4 NIV

He knows us each individually, by name, and even how many hairs we have on our head. He knew us before the foundation of the earth, and formed and fashioned us in our mothers womb, each day of our lives are know to and by him, WE are fearfully and wonderfully made in HIS image. Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.
Psalms 34:8 NIV

He himself said that He is the bread of life, and the Vine, The way, the Truth and the Life. When we partake in communion we in a deeply spiritual sense eat of his flesh and drink his life that is in his blood.

Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them.
John 6:53‭-‬56 NIV

In John 15 Jesus says he is the vine and we are the branches, and that we are to remain in Him, as He remains in us. This promise is confirmed in the scripture above. Once again I am absolutely blown away that Jesus is fully invested in me, and yet at the same time He holds the whole world, and ALL things together by the power of His Word and Awesome presence.

What an amazing and reassuring thought that God is SO Big and Great, totally Awesome, yet he is so personally available to us as our Father ABBA, this fills me with a sense of security and safety, he invites us to Know Him and He desires to know us intimately, and His purposes for us are always Good.

Inherited Shame

When I look back on my life, it is often with a sense of shame. A quiet, persistent feeling that no matter when, where, or who—it was always me. I was the common denominator. I was the one to blame. Inspired by a song of the Pet Shop Boys it's a sin. Music often speaks deeply to one's soul,  reflecting truths and emotions that remain buried in the subconscious until you recognise yourself within the lyrics. Another song that inspired this is Losing my religion by R.E.M.  Anthropology is the study of humans—how we live, think, evolve, and relate to each other across time and cultures. On Being: Not Enough (And Learning Otherwise

 Some days it comes quietly. Not with accusation or drama—just a low, persistent whisper that settles somewhere in the background of my mind: You haven’t really done much. It’s a strange thought, because I know it isn’t true. If I take a moment to look back, I can see the shape of a life that has been anything but empty. I have been a father. A husband. A provider.
