Obedience: What does that look Like?

Image
I have spoken about obedience often in my posts, so what is that practically. How should we be working that out in our lives? “If you love me, keep my commands. "Jesus" John 14:15 NIV We know from scripture that keeping The Law (of Moses), or any other moral code; does not produce salvation, that; (salvation) is found by Faith and Grace in Jesus alone. Yet we see that Jesus honoured the Law, and when asked which law was the greatest (to test him) his response was “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’  This is the first and greatest commandment.  And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself." Matthew 22:36‭-‬40 NIV This is where we get the saying Love God, Love people. So we are not saved by law, however Jesus tells us to obey his commands, Why? To prove we love him is one quick answer, another is " Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did. 1 John 2:6 NIV So we find that if we claim to b...

Real freedom

Image
The greatest freedom is to be able to be like Jesus; and live your life in the service of others. Jesus is the ultimate example of what the purpose of life is..... Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses , let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cro ss, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. Hebrews 12:1‭-‬3 NIV. The scripture above and preach that followed on Sunday at Riverside Church, was so was relevant to me and both challenged and encouraged me. During the weekend I had fallen prey to temptation and it grieved me as to how and why;  since I had been going quite well prior to the incident, and I asked the F...

ON: Hearing the voice of God.

Image
During the past week I was seeking Gods face, restoration of relationship and forgiveness for falling into sin from the temptation that pestered me. I had decided to walk with God as I like to do, to seek the intimacy of his touch, and ask for his mercy and grace to restore and redeem our relationship. This is part of what in his Grace he revealed to me. I was walking early the morning, I could hear many sounds like traffic and various birds. I felt like this was a lesson from the Father.  Traffic could be likened to the busyness of life, there consistently.  I heard Hadeada' s loud, they are perhaps like distractions to keep our attention off the thing's God wants us to do. Then there was the familiar sounds of Guinefowl, alluring and strangely exotic, comforting and desirable, but were they like the voice of God?  I felt that I had to listen beyond that to hear and discern Gods voice, to hear and see the Kingdom of God.   The small chirp of unknown birds calli...

A Knights tale.

Image
As a warrior in the Kingdom as I have shared previously my struggle is often against the idols and false beliefs of my past, particularly the false belief that sexual arousal and satisfaction are necessary to be fulfilled.  I have also shared that making confession, repentance and renouncing and living free in reality seem at times worlds apart. In my previous posts on the struggle is real and war I reflect the strategy to make war.  Having made the decision to make Jesus and the Kingdom of God my magnificent obsession and remain celebrate, in sexual purity. I was disturbed by my internal battle and thought patterns of temptation to engage in my sexual urges. I cried out to God in distress, and was reminded by him the the battle for the Kingdom of God in my life is very real. There is no testimony without a test, and no victory or conquering without a presence of a battle and war. This in itself implies that to receive the crown or reward you have to conquer and overcome...

The King and The Kingdom of God.

Image
After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. “The time has come,” he said. “ The kingdom of God has come near . Repent and believe the good news!” Mark 1:14‭-‬15 NIV and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light . For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves , Colossians 1:12‭-‬13 NIV. There is much to be said about the topic, and I am convinced that many others are able to bring more precise theology regarding the matter, however I want to share my discovery and how this relates to my life. My first observation is that Jesus, the gospel and the Kingdom of God are deeply interrelated if not ONE and the same thing.  It would seem a futile excersise to separate them from each other.  So what is the Kingdom of God? It is in the most simple terms the restoration of Gods rule and reign. ...
