A Year in review.

2020, wow what a year, started out for many full of hope and promise, as quite frankly do most years if we're honest. Each year we hope and declare that this year is our own, and we will achieve our plans and goals.

However 2020 thanks to a tiny bug called Covid19 upset the apple cart this year, however even this is not uncommon, many things have destroyed our hopes and visions in years past.

What stands out the most for this year is the many contrasts, paradoxical statements, views and options, plus the new oxymorons that manifest themselves in various ways, and platforms.

A glut of information, of a true and trusted type; to misinformation maybe with good intent, but definitely not accurate, and tons of disinformation, designed  to decieve and other nefarious purposes.

One downfall of social media platforms is that everyone has a means to disseminate information and opinions, this includes sound thinking; to the downright weirdo stuff.

The difficulty in wading through this mass of data, is deciding what is true, important and to be applied, or rejected and even maybe discredited.

The issues relating to Covid, is the mask a credible means of stopping transmission or not? Can you get Covid19 more than once? How safe and trust can one place on a vaccination? Is it effective?

Even the symptoms are so wide and varied, little wonder there are so many obviously contrasting views, not all the so called experts (Drs and scientific community) agreed on whether this virus was spread on touch only or airborne etc.

The Lockdown produced a host of varied responses, from conspiracy fears or concerns and external control, akin to police states, to good responsible government, and  everything  in between.

Not to mention the debacle of the USA elections, fraud or not? The division of the left vs the right politically, each claim that their side is correct.  Resulting in heaps of accusations, fear, mistrust and misunderstanding in each camp, off the back of the BLM controversy.  I have not seen as many stuff like cancel culture and divisions separate communities, even Christian one, before this year. Everyone is an expert, and thier view point if disagreed with gets you cut off, intolerance was at an all time high, unless of course you had the same point of views.

The weirdos had their day with theories regarding 5G, Bill Gates and evil plans hatched in every nook and crany. From the Anti-christ and the Mark of The Beast. Supporters of Biden, told to repent for their evil votes, like Gods plan to raise up Trump (their own views) could be possibly be thaughted. Not much real credence on those so called prophets, time will soon tell, once the final decision has been made.

Our sanity and peace was seriously challenged by the flood of data, and opinion, too many claiming to speak for God, each with a new twist or revelation, as though God himself was double minded or confused.  Which He is NOT.

On top of that dealing with loss of income, jobs or job security and sadly in many cases the death of loved ones, from Covid19 or normal daily causes, put additional pressure on our ability to process and make sence of a world that seems to have spun out of control and frankly gone mad.

It feels that there is no solid ground to stand on, even our own feelings and emotions can't be trusted, they are too dependant on circumstances that are prevalent in the situation we find ourselves in at the time.

Which way to turn in these turbulent and scary times?

Is there something that is trustworthy and reliable source of comfort and truth to set our feet and bring security and safety to the amidst the turmoil around us?

Thankfully I believe there  is, found in the humble birth of a boy child. Who was and is God, taking on human flesh, and HIS Kingdom, he has established and will reign for eternity, he is safe and secure.

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.  Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.

Isaiah 9:6‭-‬7 NIV

As crazy as it might sound I have such faith in the promise of God and His KING Jesus  to establish a firm government is the only tenable and solid foundation for my life, it fills me with hope for a promise that is not dependant on man or self, but on God himself to experienced life as a human, who is both fully God and Fully man, who lives in a human (yet different) flesh, with No corruption and has enabled us to experience the same, if we simply acknowledge and trust in Him.
