A stroll with God
Early this morning I was walking around the farm where I live and reflecting with The Father on recent posts and the need for a real intimate relationship and connection with Jesus. Again my mind went to my post on Sins of Commission vs Sins of Commission. I want to just copy a piece of of that here.
Its not just a quiet time and reading of the word, it's about a relationship between Jesus and you. Intimacy, fellowship, engagement of you fully, spirit, soul (mind and emotions) and body in an active manner, otherwise it has little real effect.
The post deals with the fact that sin has less impact on us when we are in fact fully engaged with God, if you haven't read it, then may I suggest you do so.
My point of discussion with God was about the importance of having an intentional time set aside, and I was wondering with him and recalling that Jesus himself often would withdraw from the crowds. Since he was God was this entirely as an example for us to follow?
I was reminded that Jesus was Fully God and Fully Human and as such he experienced the same things we do. Life is full of distractions, information and emotional overload are very real issues, common to many people.
It's like during the course of time even sometimes a day we experience burnout or a frying of nervous circuit boards in a sence. We can end up feeling frazzled, exhausted, frustrated and distracted from the things of God.
This essential timeout with God gives him a chance to reset us as it were. Kinda a download of his plans, purposes to realign us to his Kingdom. He restores our fruit and character, and reminds us of what is important and calls us out of complacency and apathy that may have developed and reminds us of Who we are, our calling, gifting, failings that require us to work on, and encourages us to follow him in adventure , obedience and fruitfulness once more.
I personally enjoy doing this outdoors, somewhere in nature. It occurred to me that many of Gods people may have developed a similar taste for nature and often in scripture a call to observe nature is encouraged by biblical writers. I wondered why?
I sence that it's because nature does what nature, naturally does. There is a level of trust in the goodness and faithfulness of God and his very presence to sustain life, and endless worship of Him. I think of it kinda like the unforced rhythms of Grace.
If this was important to Jesus how much more so for us? So we are spiritual biegns, and if we are restored to our proper place in God, then perhaps we will also do what our nature naturally does? I believe then that we can be naturally supernatural by intentionally maintaining a personal relationship with Jesus our God as our top priority.
