Sins of Omission vs Sins of Commission.

I find that if I neglect the relational side of this walk as a follower of Christ, the easier it is to fall into sins of commission.
In other words the sin of ommission enables the sin I feel I want to commit.
The reason is simply that I have ommited the intentional hard work of engaging fully with my Lord, spiritually, emotionally, mentally and physically.
Therefore my conscious is less likely to be pricked when the temptation knocks at my door, giving me a false sense that its okay to indulge.
The fact is that the intentional engagement is harder work than the sins of commission, of course that is NOT the truth, but it feels like it is so, I feel that I am off the hook.

The truth (you shall know the truth & the truth you know and apply, will set you free)

Sins of commission are not as easily and readily committed if your spirit is engaged and you walk in surrender to The Spirit and bring your fleshly soul, and body into the dicipline to overcome.
Its not I that live, but Christ in me.

But for that to be a reality takes intentional engagement  and dicipline.

Its not just a quiet time and reading of the word, it's about a relationship between Jesus and you.  Intimacy, fellowship, engagement of you fully, spirit, soul (mind and emotions) and body in an active manner, otherwise it has little real effect.

This is a truth I hate about myself and often feel like Paul says in Romans, that I am wretched and keep doing the thing I dont want to do, and don't do the thing I know I ought to do
Oh praise God for grace....who will rescue me
Jesus has come to set us free, and deliver us from the body of sin and rescue the deceitful and wretched heart of man, that is deprived and gives us a new heart, where his word and law is written on hearts of flesh and not stone.

We have no capacity in ourselves to do this, but by HIS Grace; we can say no to ungodliness and yes to righteousness.

IF we stay connected to the vine (Jesus) in relationship (actively and fully engaged) for apart from HIM we can do nothing.
However in HIM we bear much fruit and HE gives us the capacity for ourselves and others.

"More than a few men are swamped — they are in over their heads. After they’ve taken care of their own problems, they have no capacity left over to help anyone else" Patrick Morley - Man in the Mirror.

This is what I want for my life to live fully engaged with God and overcome and to love others as myself, so that I have capacity to help them engage with our  ABBA Father together.

Another truth to embrace is that life is hard, and that we need each other to make it.
As iron sharpens iron so we need to be sharpened at times or sharpen someone else.
However its is vitally important that grace is applied in good measure.  Team is Gods grace and truth, man was not intended to be alone, even the Godhead works itself out in team or community.
Jesus demonstrated that with the Father and his diciples.  Pretty sure that he like Paul lived a life of team, so that others could look at his life and follow the pattern.
In such proximity the oil of grace is required even more, there is no gain if you are able to point out the flaw in someone's life and not walk the road with them to redemption.

This is like James warning the Christians that if you saw a brother in distress and you had the means to help, and then choosing not to help
This needs grace to be practical and yet have applied truth to overcome and more than likely to have a cost attached, even if it's time related only, hence the need for both grace and truth.

Sad truth is that often someone is willing to tear a strip off someone else (speak the truth) but show no grace in the walking out of the grace required to bring redemption and healing.

I can testify that this has happened to me, and yet others have applied truth and grace as is the case in our church, other churches were not as gracefully and truthfully inclined.

I am therefore extremely grateful that I have people in my life who have been, and still are courageous enough to hold me accountable in truth and grace, and the huge difference it has made to me.

We need each other often and should be ready to reach out and spur each other on to finish this race, other times we need to walk alone, but confident we have a cloud of witnesses behind us, covering us with prayer and counsel, and that includes God theFather, Son and Holy Spirit, our ulitmate team.
